For Our Beloved Parents:
People have often said, "Rena you are a strong woman!" I smile to myself thinking of where that strength comes from: My parents.
My parents taught me to always hold me head high and to look at people when speaking with them. And never to be ashamed of who I am.
When I wanted to attend college and purse a career in Social Work, Mom and Dad were very supportive. And even though the idea of me moving out on my own worried my parents, they understood my wanting to start building a life for myself.
Living with Cerebral Palsy, I have faced some ignorance. However, it has not discouraged me from pursing my dreams.
The biggest struggle in my life is not the disability and all the challenges that come with it, it's waking up everyday knowing that Mom and Dad are gone from this world.
In fall of 2003, my Mom lost her battle with cancer. She stayed positive and strong until the end. I miss her.
Six months after losing Mom, my Dad had a heart attack and passed away. A part of me still waits for him to come home.
This website is dedicated to my parents. Their faith in my ability to success in all areas of life was constant which helped me believe in myself. Mom and Dad: I love you and I thank you. Your beautiful spirit continues to live on in the eyes of your children: Rena, Johnny and Mikey.
